  • Precision engineering and manual machining

We're also very interested to hear from anyone with experience using Fusion 360 CAM with a deep knowledge of machining strategies. We are looking for someone to consult/advise us on an occasional basis with the possibility of working remotely.

Description: Interactual and JNDC, based in Kingston Upon Thames, London, are offering a salaried placement opportunity for a student or postgraduate specialising in electro-mechanical engineering. This placement focuses on the specification, design, and development of engineering test rigs as well as general engineering activities.

The intern will play a crucial role in both hands-on engineering tasks and strategic project development in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

Lead the design, specification, and construction of test rigs in a growing area of our business.

  • Development of functional specification and design

  • Detailed design of motion control systems

  • Sensor selection, integration, and data acquisition strategy

Engage in general engineering development tasks, including:

  • Technical research and creative problem-solving

  • Prototyping, in-house testing, and CAD from early concept through to production readiness

  • Generating engineering drawings and manufacturing data packs

Develop and refine "Test Rig Development" as a service offering to enhance business capabilities and reduce commercial risks.

Manage supplier relationships and ensure material and component quality and delivery schedules.

Experience:

  • Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical and electro-mechanical engineering

  • Experience with CAD tools such as Solidworks, Fusion 360, and relevant engineering software

  • Practical experience in programming for data collection and analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C)

Personal Attributes:

  • Motivated and proactive with a passion for tackling complex engineering problems

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in project scope or direction

  • Capable of both independent work and collaboration within a team environment

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to participate effectively in client meetings and workshops
